This should be considered the "real" first album from Los Angeles alt/metal band Helen 55.
Originally recorded in 1998, the band was forced to abandon the recording sessions half-way through the process. In 2006, several years after the band's break-up, guitarist/songwriter Shon Kornfeld transfered the original analog master tapes to digital format so he can work on the "lost" album at his home studio, Moai Sounds. Keeping the original drum tracks (by drummer Ian Perreira), Kornfeld re-recorded all the guitar parts while adding new textures and sub-melodies. In 2008-2009 bassist Dennis Valles and vocalist Ronnie stepped in to re-record their parts. The record was mixed at Moai Sounds by Ibo Rodriguez and the final result is a sonic assault on the senses with big riffs, passionate vocals, and plenty of space guitar.
Check out the album and see why Helen 55 was considered an influential LA band whose music is even more relevant now, over a decade after it was written.
